Erasmus+ - the programme in numbers

22.12.2023

The European Commission just published the Erasmus+ annual report 2022, with some impressive results and figures. Within the current 2021-2027 Multiannual Financial Framework, 2022 was the second year of implementation for the Erasmus+ programme; benefitting from around €4 billion, the programme contributed to funding or co-funding around 26.000 projects and therefore supporting more than 73.000 organisations.

The Erasmus+ is most known for its mission of fostering learning mobility for learners of all ages, and in 2022 it contributed to sending more than 1.2 million learners and staff on a mobility activity - in Europe and beyond. Of these learners, at least 134.000 participants were able to access funds earmarked for learners with fewer opportunities. They represent 13.3% of the total, a number that is due to increase thanks to the Europe on the Move initiative.

The Erasmus+ programme is one of the most visible and well-known success stories of the European Union, bringing together learners of all ages for over 35 years. Its concrete and positive effects on professional, social, educational and personal development of its beneficiaries are well documented and, crucially, it contributes to a stronger European identity and active citizenship.
