In this talk, we will delve into the creation and evolution of this revolutionary technology, demystifying what these AI models are and envisioning the future they might shape. Despite these new solutions offering immense possibilities, they also pose challenges such as the risk of generating misleading information and perpetuating societal biases. We will dissect these issues, understand their roots, and explore strategies that we, as users, can employ to mitigate them, ensuring the responsible use of these sophisticated tools. Concrete applications of ChatGPT and AI Language Models in social statistics This talk will present the utility of AI Language Models, such as ChatGPT, in the field of social statistics. Some concrete examples of this are the coding of open-ended questions, the translation of questionnaires and other fieldwork-related documents, the writing of publications, or computer programming.
