The Vocational Aptitude Diploma (Diplôme d'aptitude professionnelle - DAP) gives holders access to the labour market as qualified employees. Note that the DAP Nursing Assistant can be gained while being employed. Evening classes are offered for the 1st year DAP Administrative and Commercial Agent.

The Classical Secondary School Leaving Diploma (Diplôme de fin d'études secondaires classiques - DFESC) in humanities and social sciences - modern section G, may be acquired by attending evening classes or by following a distance learning course (eBac). This is the only section of classical secondary education accessible via continuing training.

Adults who wish to complete their general secondary education or start studying again can obtain the General Secondary School Leaving Diploma (Diplôme de fin d'études secondaires générales - DFESG) in the administrative and commercial division, management section, by attending evening classes. The Master Craftsmanship (Brevet de maîtrise) is a key qualification in the arts and crafts sector. It makes it possible for the holders to set up and run their own business, to train apprentices or to take up a managerial role in a craft, manufacturing or commercial business. Adults can obtain the Master Craftsmanship by attending preparatory classes or through validation of non-formal and informal learning.

The Higher Technician Certificate (Brevet de technicien supérieur - BTS) is awarded at the end of a short training course in higher education that normally lasts two years. It is a vocational higher education qualification that meets the needs of businesses. Validation of non-formal and informal learning allows you to have your experience recognised with the aim of obtaining, in whole or in part, a BTS in your field of activity.

Adults wishing to resume or embark on higher education, generally at the same time as pursuing a professional activity, may obtain a university diploma such as a Master's degree (5 years of higher education), a Bachelor's degree (3 years of higher education) or another diploma awarded by a university via continuing training which offers teaching outside working hours, classes in the evening or at the weekend, distance learning (e-learning) or blended learning. Validation of non-formal and informal learning allows you to access a programme of study or obtain transfer credits or exemptions.

The 5e classes enable adults to reach the level of the 5e class which they need to be able to achieve their personal and professional projects thanks to back to school options. The same is true for immigrants who do not have a recognised level of education or whose knowledge of languages is insufficient to join the Luxembourg school system. These classes give access to secondary education and vocational training. They may be attended as evening or daytime classes.

The validation of non-formal and informal learning (Validation des acquis de l’expérience - VAE) is a further means of gaining a formal qualification. This scheme allows professional and personal experience to be recognised with a view to obtaining a qualification or partial validation, gaining access to a training path, or being partially exempted from certain parts of a programme of studies.
VAE is for anyone, regardless of age, level of study or professional status. The prerequisite is to have completed at least 3 years or 5 000 hours of work directly related to the requested certification.

Recognition of diplomas of higher education
Registration in the higher education section of the register of certificates corresponds to the academic recognition of a diploma of higher education obtained in another country. The procedure applies to any higher education diplomas/degrees issued in a country other than Luxembourg, Belgium and the Netherlands.
