Obtain a Higher Technician's Certificate without having to attend all the classes or modules of the programme of studies concerned through the VAE
The Higher Technician Certificate (Brevet de technicien supérieur - BTS) is awarded at the end of a short training course in higher education that normally lasts two years (120 ECTS credits); it is a vocational higher education qualification that meets the needs of companies. The Grand Duchy currently offers 40 BTS qualifications in the fields of commerce, health, industry, applied arts, skilled craft work, and service.
The BTS qualification can be obtained in the form of initial training (full-time only at a school) or by validating non-formal and informal learning (only applicable for BTS courses that have been in operation for at least one full cycle already).
Through the validation of non-formal and informal learning (VAE) it is possible to receive credit for one's professional experience and waive all or part of the studies necessary to obtain a BTS. Applicants can consult the following list to identify which formal diploma corresponds to their experience; they may also obtain information from the corresponding secondary schools. Not all BTS are yet accessible through VAE.
