Definition

In education and training, process of transforming systems towards digital learning (access, content, pedagogical methods, infrastructures and technologies, management, monitoring and assessment of learners).

In economy, increasing use and integration of digital technology and digitised information and knowledge to produce and market goods, and provide services.

Comment
  • Digitalisation of education and training:
    • broadens the range of learning supports and options;
    • allows learners to enrol in and access education and training actions via mobile devices and web applications;
    • enables providers to organise online learning and monitor learners’ progress and assessment;
  • this requires:
    • innovation and adaptation: new pedagogical strategies and tools for teaching and learning, efficient monitoring of learners’ engagement and assessment;
    • high-quality learning content, user-friendly tools and secure platforms which respect privacy and ethical standards;
    • adequate infrastructure, connectivity and digital equipment;
    • effective digital capacity planning and development.
