The Eurydice Network has published the report "Validation of non-formal and informal learning in higher education in Europe". Building on the 2012 Council Recommendation on the validation of non-formal and informal learning as well as the objectives set within the Bologna Process, this report examines how higher education systems across Europe recognise and validate learning outcomes from non-formal and informal learning. More specifically, the report investigates whether this validation: facilitates entry into higher education study programmes; provides opportunities for fulfilling higher education study requirements. The report covers 37 European education systems and builds on qualitative data from the academic year 2023/2024.
